Within the Seafarers Happiness Index, there have been concerns expressed about the growing demands placed on seafarers. In order to make positive changes, it is vital that the industry hears concerns about mandatory training and issues surrounding refresher courses.
When seafarers talk about wanting continuous and well-documented training – both ashore and while onboard, then industry needs to listen. Where crews want access to training materials and study in a structured way and working to a plan for continuing professional development (CPD), then we are there to hear them and allow industry the opportunity to make the right things happen.
